Vespers

This practice builds on the Sonter, Rest in Rose, and Access Alternatives practices to help you channel your essence.  (See all Practices.)

Vespers are an hour or more of meditation in which to speak with your Personal God. The morning is the best time to do this, as it allows the most penetration from your dreamspace. Your essence so wants you to do this it will seize you by the pajamas to tell you what you need to know, and that’s why we want to stress this so dearly to you.

First, establish a daily routine that allows you a quiet space in which to rest in the fealing (feeling in real ways) tone of your essence. Ask your essence to speak with you about whatever you feal is important—your dreams, challenges, fears, desires—anything that is coming up for you. Or you may simply ask three questions: What do I want to do today? What do I want to do tomorrow? What do I want to do for the rest of my life?

Next, move into a sense of creative flow. You might sit quietly and let the dreams from the previous night enter your awareness. You might begin a daily practice of opening a blank page and writing whatever comes into your consciousness, then turn your attention to those things. Starting with a blank page will provide you many improbable expressions, some that you may already be investigating, only on a different order, such as alternate forms of banking, of baking, of children’s education, of the many interests that you already have. You may wish to write, paint, sing, dance, or anything that expresses what comes through. You might explore ideas and activities that are familiar and probable, and as you continue, become new and improbable.

As you continue your practice, allow yourself to discover and experiment with forms of expression that you feel passionate about. Your passions are things you loved as a child that you may not remember doing, but linger in your intuition like long-ago dreams.

Allow yourself to explore any interest you can imagine. As you continue, the interests you begin with will honor the ones you’ve almost forgotten, and you’ll see that your path has been productive and blissful all along. In this way, your Vespers will turn into what you truly want to do with your life and a means to appreciate how you got there.
